Join Random Fun Adventures to the amazing La Garganta Del Capitán Waterfall Hike (‘The Captains Gorge’). One of Algeciras' best kept secrets - nestled in the subtropical forest of Los Alcornocales Natural Park. We've explored this route a few times, and its absolutely perfect for the Summer Months, as we get to enjoy & swim in the beautiful Garganta Del Capitán Waterfall Waters. 

 

About The Route:

Distance: 6kms

Elevation: 166m
Difficulty: I would class the route as medium difficulty, just because of the uneven terrain, river crossings and odd bits of climbing over wet rocks. The route isn't too long. Just 3kms each way. However, the terrain down to the Waterfall itself is quite tricky and steep. It involves scrambling, climbing, and hiking down / and back up a steep path. So if your balance isn't up to stretch or you don't like heights, please do sit this one out! 

Once we're there, it's great to get into the Rock Pool and enjoy the Waterfall, so its advisable to bring adequate footwear with lots of grip - and you must be able to swim. There's plenty of places to sit and enjoy a little picnic, if you don't want to get into the water.

There'll be lots of time to jump in, swim, have a bite to eat, take pictures & enjoy the surroundings, before our hike back to the cars.
