Hidden away in the hills of Algeciras, Garganta del Capitán is one of the Costa del Sol's best-kept natural secrets. This beautiful trail winds through peaceful woodland, across rocky terrain, and alongside a gentle stream before leading to its breathtaking highlight... a stunning waterfall cascading into a crystal-clear natural pool.

The hike itself is around 3km each way, making it a relatively short adventure, but don't let the distance fool you! The final descent to the waterfall is steep, rocky, and involves a little scrambling, adding to the sense of adventure. Good footwear is essential, and a reasonable level of fitness and confidence on uneven ground is recommended.

The cool, emerald-green pool at the base of the waterfall is the perfect place for a refreshing swim, relax on the surrounding rocks, or simply soak up the peaceful surroundings. So remember to bring your swimwear

It's the kind of place that makes you forget you're just a short drive from the Costa del Sol

⚠️ Important Information ⚠️

The terrain down to the waterfall is steep and adventurous, with sections involving scrambling over rocks and uneven ground. If you're not confident with heights, uneven terrain, or your balance, this route may not be suitable for you. Swimming is completely optional, but if you decide to take a dip, please ensure you're a confident swimmer and wear suitable footwear for the rocky pool. Also, please bring LOTS of water!!! Because it will still be warm, even in the evening
